Research Interests
The neocortex is the largest and most complex part of the mammalian brain, and responsible for sensory perception, motor control, memory and cognition. My research over the years has been devoted to the study of the neuronal circuits in the mammalian neocortex. We examined cellular physiology issues such as the membrane properties of neurons in the neocortex, the characteristics of synapses, and the interactions between neurons and astrocytes. In collaboration with close colleagues, we analyze the behavior of cortical neurons in-vivo. Together, these studies explore the rules of cortical functional organization.
