The Computational Neurophysics Lab
Dynamics of layer 4 cortical circuits
Layer 4 is the input layer to the sensory cortex. We study how this layer, composed of excitaory and several types of inhibotory neurons, processes various types of inputs such as movement of sensorts and touch.
Whisker bending
Rodents use information from contact of their whisker with objects to control their behavior. We study how the motor system moves whiskers, how whiskers bend upon touch and how touch information is transferred to the nervous system using mechanical and neuronal models.
Techniques
I apply analytical techniques borrowed from nonlinear dynamics, statistical mechanics and continuum mechanics as well as extensive numerical simulations, to study the behavior of large neuronal networks, neuronal systems and whiskers.
