"Dead State" in Thermodynamics

"Dead state" is the end of the universe

In 1865, Rudolf Clausius boldly and highly provocatively formulated that: the energy of the universe remains constant and its entropy tends to a maximum. Thus, because an increase in the entropy and disorder is associated with a decreased ability to perform work, the universe will ultimately reach a "dead state". This state is illustrated below, showing how art serves to illustrate scientific ideas.
