Peter StallybrassUniversity of PennsylvaniaPeter Stallybrass is Annenberg Professor in the Humanities and Professor of English and of Comparative Literature and Literary Theory at the University of Pennsylvania. For the last fourteen years, he has directed the weekly seminar on the History of Material Texts, and he co-edits the Material Texts series for the University of Pennsylvania Press. He has collaborated with James Green on exhibitions on “Material Texts” and on Benjamin Franklin. In 2006, their Benjamin Franklin, Writer and Printer was published by the Library Company, the British Library, and Oak Knoll. Peter also curated with Heather Wolfe an exhibition on “Technologies of Writing in the Renaissance” at the Folger Shakespeare Library in 2006. His A. S. W. Rosenbach lectures on “Printing for Manuscript” will be published by the University of Pennsylvania Press. He is at present working with Roger Chartier on an account of the history of the book from wax tablets to e-books. |
