The Founder

      Abraham Tamir*, a professor of Chemical Engineering at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, Beer-Sheva, Israel, was among the founders of the Department of Chemical Engineering in 1968. In the course of his administrative career he has been also Rector of the University.
      Abraham Tamir is the author of 150 scientific articles and 10 books. He is on the advisory boards of the international journals: Drying Technology and the Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering.
      Abraham Tamir developed an efficient gas burner which launched a new product, the Rotoflame Camping Cooker, on the Israeli market.
      In 1991, he was awarded the Ernst David Bergman Prize - a prize awarded annually by the Israel Academy of Sciences to a scientist who has contributed significantly to applied research or opened up a new sphere of scientific work.
      In 1998, Abraham Tamir founded the Museum of Art & Science at Ben-Gurion University based on his ideas and involvement in this field. He is also an invited lecturer on Art and Science at international conferences.
