Raz was born in 1964 and grew up in Beer Sheva. He
studied Chemistry at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem and received
his B.Sc. in 1988. Raz moved to California and completed his PhD in
1993 at the University of California, Berkeley with Professor Alexander
Pines in the field of solid state Nuclear Magnetic Resonance. From 1993
until 1996 he worked as a Cancer Research Institute Post-doctoral Fellow
at the University of Pennsylvania on structural biology of short antimicrobial
peptides. He joined the Chemistry Department of Ben-Gurion University
in 1996, where he is currently an Associate professor and Chairman.
