Born in Germany Jürgen studied Physics at the University of Konstanz (1984-1988), in Grenoble (1988-1989) and again in Konstanz (1989-1993). He specialized in solid state physics and optics. He then taught Physics in a private school in Switzerland (1994-1996). He joined BGU in 1997 and the Minerva center on 1999 where he worked on the wetting behavior of polymers and elastomers. He became a staff member in the Ilse Katz Center for Meso- and Nanoscale Science and Technology in 2002 and is heading its SPM unit.
